For Solicitors

Solicitors in England and Wales have an ethical obligation to discuss how a client will pay for the costs associated with pursuing a litigation claim (SRA Code of Conduct IB(1.16)). As such, we strongly recommend that solicitors discuss the advantages of litigation funding with their clients at the outset of every case, and at any time in which the client appears to be struggling with respect to necessary payments.

In an effort to support solicitors in this regards, a section of this web site is dedicated to a full explanation of the practice of litigation funding, and additional materials may be found on the web sites of our ALF member funders.

We have also drafted a short guide to litigation funding that solicitors can easily share with their clients. If this summary gives rise to additional questions, we suggest that they be taken up directly with our member funders.
