The Association of Litigation Funders of England & Wales (ALF) is dedicated to promoting best practice in the Litigation Funding industry and campaigning to improve the uses and applications of Litigation Funding as an additional resource for Access to Justice and rational management of financial risk in making claims . We seek to ensure continued compliance with the Code of Conduct by our members and to promote awareness of Litigation Funding in the UK.
Our process is very simple. The application for Membership or for Associate Membership in the ALF requires the completion of a standard Application Form and the payment of a subscription and a membership fee. The Application Form is provided by the ALF upon request.
The Code of Conduct for Litigation Funders was published by the Civil Justice Council and launched on 23 November 2011 at the Royal Courts of Justice. It was the result of many months of painstaking work by a Working Party established by the Civil Justice Council with the participation of shareholders including lawyers, academics and business interests. The code was amended in January 2014.
